Hi, Jim.  I just sent you an email on the same topic - I hadn't seen your post.  Yes, I'm up for a run tomorrow, perhaps mid-morning or so (10:00 or 10:30).  You have my email or call me at (240) 481-7982.

Hey Brian, want to put in eight miles tomorrow at an easy pace?  I'd like to run in the morning, but doesn't have to be too early.  Let me know.

Jim

Hey no worries Brian.  The nice thing about the canal is its an out and back so everyone can run till they get tired and turn around and come back.  For me tomorrow, I would try to go out about 5 miles and turn around and come back.  That's if I feel energetic.  Maybe I'll only do 4 out before I turn around.  There are mile markers every mile so you always know where you are at and there are usually plenty of other runners there so you are rarely alone.
If you get to "downtown" Brunswick, look for signs for the MARC (train) station.  There is a huge parking lot that is pretty empty on Saturday mornings and park near the train station on the side of the lot near the river.  The tow path of the canal is right next to the parking.

I might be up for the canal run.  I do have a few questions, though.  First, I assume there's no misnomer here - it's entirely on the nice, soft surface of the path, correct?  Second, where in Brunswick do we meet?  I've never done the canal run and so I'm unfamiliar with the logistics (plus, how long does it take to get there from downtown Frederick?).  Third, when you say 10-15 miles, is it as simple a matter as turning around when we get half way?  I'm interested in 10 miles but no more, so if the group is planning on 15 I may have a lonely last 5 miles on my hands.

Thanks!

Mark,

What time Saturday? I can help you. I don't know the course as well as Mike does, but if you need me, let me know. (Yea I know, I've run it both years but that doesn't mean I was paying attention to where I was going!  Huh )
