Wanted to let everyone know that Frank Strakonsky is starting his Frederick Athletic Academy kids track program on March 15th.  This is the program I help with at Frederick HS.  In addition to signing up your kids, Frank's also looking for adults to volunteer to help coach.  Coming out to run track with the kids is a good way to get some speed work in, so if you're interested let me know.  I'm attaching the registration form for anyone interested in signing up your kids.  Cmon out!  We keep it fun for everyone involved!   Cheesy

Also on the topic of kids in track, my daughter Raeann is getting the opportunity to run track with Urbana HS thanks to a program in conjuntion with Special Olympics of Maryland.  They call it a Unified Team - meaning that disabled athletes get to compete along with regular (abled?) kids.  She will practice with the high school team.  When she competes, there will be other unified athletes there too, so maybe she won't always be dead last!  (Those of you who've seen her at the summer decathlon know her "pace".  In a regular HS meet, she might get lapped in an 800M race!)

She is so excited AND PROUD to be able to say she's running track!   Who knows, maybe by the summer she'll be finishing the SD events without walking!   Grin

The flyer says it's for kids in the Frederick High draw area. Do you know if it's open to homeschoolers and if they're strict about the draw area? I'm interested in this for my 2nd grader, and we're just the other of side of Jefferson.

Thanks

Tracy,

I would think Frank would be ok with including home schoolers.  His phone number is on the registration form if you wanted to ask him about it.
