Congratulations Cassy!  And when you pass me on the second loop of the HAT Run, don't tell me we only have 4 miles left! Cry

For anyone who is curious about that comment, I took the early start, so I started almost an hour before Cassy.  When she passed me she said we only had about 4 miles left.  Feeling pumped up and thinking I was doing pretty darn good, I ran another mile to the next aid station only to find out that the finish line was SEVEN miles away! Awesome job Cassy!!! You just keep making us old guys look slower and slower!     And a personal congrats to my son Seth. Who on his 1st ever ultra smoked me by 13 minutes! I start cramping up at 21 miles and looks back at me and says he feels great! He then tells me I'm breathing too hard, try breathing more from my lower part of my lungs! WHAT!? I just don't want pass out in the mud and be used as a stepping stone! 8 miles left he turns back to me and says "We can make this in 6 hrs. if we run 9 minute miles the rest of the way." "Maybe you can, don't let me hold you up!" He finally did cramp up with a couple miles to go he said, serves the kid right!  In my defense though, I lost a week of training suffering in California. I was forced to eat like I normally don't and sample the micro breweries! Well more than just sample.

A BIG CONGRATS to Cassie!!!   Shocked

To Steve:  You make it sound like drinking beer and running ultra-marathons isn't compatible.  That's never been my experience.  There's plenty of things that have slowed me down, but I was drinking the most beer during the period I was running my best (normally not the night before the event)  Of course I was training like a mad man too.    Tongue

One way or another, congrats to both you and Seth on a great run (I see he was right on Dobson's heels).  I'm sure it was very gratifying for you to just have him out there with you and even more so to see him finish in front.  Smiley

Thanx Mark,
I said the same to Seth about finishing behind Steve D and he reminded me that Steve missed a marker and ran a few extra miles! So if you need to know where the maint. building is for the lake, ask Steve.

Thanks so much everyone!!!  I'm still trying to figure out how some of you ran a 50K in those conditions - AMAZING!  Way to go you guys!  And oh yeah - sorry Larry!   Tongue  If it's any consolation I started running like I had four miles left and nearly had a heart attack when I found out it was more like 7 miles....  I'm blaming the Garmin.

How many miles did you run by Garmin?

It stopped calculating after 17.2.  I have the first generation model and it never works right in the woods.  I rarely wear a watch when I race, but thought it would be a good idea for this one.  I should have left it at home....
