This week’s incredible member spotlight is on Cheyenne Norwood:

I started running in high school as a sprinter and thrower back in 2012. I didn’t start running longer distances until I was in college in 2017. After building a strong base, I decided on Thanksgiving in 2018 that I wanted to train for my first half marathon, which turned out to be the rainy 2019 Frederick Half Marathon. It was not until then that I learned about the Steeps. In the summer of 2019, I started attending the Wednesday night pub runs from Brewers Alley where I would enjoy nice water afterwards because I was not quite 21 yet. A busy college schedule and COVID kept me from getting too involved with the Steeps, but I started back strong with the first half marathon training group in the Spring of 2021. Since then, I have done almost every half marathon training group, joined most Wednesday night pub runs, and started helping coach our youth group the Spires! I remember training for my first half alone and after joining the Steeps, I will never do that again. Two of the things I love the most about the Steeps is the excitement and encouragement from club members, and how easy it is to stay consistent in my training with all of the weekly group runs. I have made some of the most wonderful friends and have been so inspired by so many members of our awesome club!

I have included pictures of this spring’s Spires coaches on our parking garage run, a finish line picture from my first marathon last fall, and the 2023 Princess Half Marathon in Disney this past February.
