Two months into leading the Steeplechasers, and all I can say is WOW!!!  I’ve made a concerted effort to get out in support of our events, our volunteers, and most importantly, you as our members.  While getting out, I’ve seen so many inspiring stories that make it worth all the work we all put in.  I’ve seen new members struggle with difficult events, then smile at the end when all their fellow members are there cheering them on.  I’ve seen senior members step up in to roles and opportunities to help the club in ways not expected. I’ve seen our Half Marathon Training Group grow to over 150 runners with a good-sized contingent that shows up on a nightly basis for our group training.  I’ve seen a level of communication between everybody on social media, in email, in person, etc.  that makes working for all of you such a dream position to be in.    And most importantly, I’ve seen the passion, the drive to succeed, the skill, whatever adjective you want to come up with, from so many of our members that is so awe inspiring to watch.  Keep up the awesome effort and keep inspiring everybody around you every day!

We’ve put out several calls for volunteers asking members to step up into larger or expanded roles.  Many of those have been filled, but we still have a few needs.  Namely a Community Relations Volunteer.  Of course, we always need race day volunteers, so please watch for those calls as well.  If ever you’ve wanted to be a part of the club to aid other runners, now is as good a time as any to speak up.  Please reach out to any of our volunteers, and we can get you the information you need in order to fill these positions.

As the spring season of running gets closer and closer, I’m enjoying watching so many of you come out of hibernation, getting prepared for races, just enjoying the fitness and camaraderie that the club offers, and very important to me personally, just being out with friends doing what we love.  I’m enjoying meeting so many of you along the way, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to meet so many more of you.  Please ensure you continue to watch the newsletters, emails, and social media postings for what’s going on around the city, the county, and the club.  We put out A LOT of the necessary information through those mediums.  But as always, if you are looking for something specific you haven’t seen, please reach out and ask, and we’ll see what we can get for you.

Thank you and Happy Running!!
