We really do have the most diverse and amazing members! I would love to share your stories, accomplishments or anything else you would like to share. Please send them to barb.meely@steeplechasers.org.

This week’s fabulous member spotlight is on Crystal Tressler.

“Rumor has it that Crystal Tressler likes hills but it’s really the country roads of Frederick County where she grew up (which happen to be hilly) that she loves to run.

Aside from the unmarked gravelly hills that have her heart, Crystal loves spreadsheets. That’s right, Excel spreadsheets. She’s the club Treasurer who loves financial analysis almost as much as running.

Her first races were in 2011 (yes, there’s an ongoing spreadsheet to document them all) but she didn’t join the Steeplechasers until 2014. After retiring from the corporate world in 2015, running with the Steeps changed from just providing for physical needs to also meeting the social, mental, and professional needs of the stay at home mom.

Crystal joined the coaching team in 2017 and is an RRCA Certified Level I Running Coach and is co-chair of the training committee. When not running or volunteering for the club or school, she is spending time hiking, biking and being outdoors with her husband Nick and their 3 children. They are planning their second GAP biking trip this fall.”
